DIFFERENT than the rest

There was something that made The Sound different than the rest. Really different. And that was the feeling that you were one of them. That you were up there with those 5 crazy guys. Long before it became popular to do so, they would ask you to sing along with them. Both Tom and Jack would occasionally wander down from the stage to sing to some young lady. More often than not, this didn't go over so well with the young lady's escort, and an altercation would ensue — while the band played on.
The Sound covered top forty hits like a warm blanket because that was expected of a 60's club band. However, they were happiest when doing their own arrangements of obscure material not even considered by the rest. Now and then they would slip an original into a second or third set playlist just to keep their audience guessing.
Over the years, The Sound was privileged to have appeared on common venues with The Rolling Stones, Mitch Rider & The Detroit Wheels, The Young Rascals, The Human Bienzs and The Knickerbockers to name but a few. The group was initially represented by Action Associates in Watertown, N.Y., and later on by Carousel Productions in San Francisco and Indianapolis. The band toured throughout the west and mid-west for CarouselProductions, and was in the process of negotiations with Colgems EMI, when the final version of The Sound dis-banded.
Former band members plan to add audio to this site. Stay tuned for the same, but be advised that all good things take time, and the guys are scattered all over the country. Hopefully, they will give us a few that you'll remember if you were there. And if you weren't there — you should have been.

Incidentally: That little man behind the "T" in The Sound drum-head logo is credited to the Crowder brothers. He is said to represent their former brother-in-law Dick Kissell.
